No surprises here. I pretty much got exactly what I wanted/was expecting. I loved it.
Also, it would’ve played much better had I gone in cold and not seen any of the trailers
Seeing it twenty years ago in the theater and then again tonight, my feelings haven’t changed. The first 2/3 of this film are great but it completely falls apart in the third act. For me, the moment they take refuge in Harlan’s house it starts going down hill.

I’m such an Alien/Aliens fan that I honestly don’t think I can objectively give this an accurate rating. I think quite a bit of it is really great. When this movie is good, it’s really fucking good. However, the amount of callbacks and fan service is super distracting and largely unnecessary. Much of it will only be noticeable to super fans like myself, but there are a few instances that are totally unforgivable. Like I can’t believe they went there… …
