  There’s nothing brave or new about this film.

  It is a barrage of new characters you’re supposed to care about and confusing exposition for a plot that’s like almost interesting. The director here has a concept of a style that I can see at points, the issue is that the edit always cuts to coverage that deflates any consistency in the shots.

  This was exactly what I needed it to be, a chill coming of age slice of life movie that gave a really nuanced exploration of religion. Rachel McAdams gave an incredible performance, easily carrying her scenes in the movie. Not to say everybody else was bad, Abby Ryder Fortson was also really good too.
