    I shouldn’t have watched this right after Nickel Boys because it turned a pretty good movie (with one of my favorite Jeremy Strong performances) into a palette cleanser. The film felt like it was veering towards Donald Trump biopic territory; I wish it was a bit more focused on the relationship between Donald and Roy, because that’s where this movie shined the most I think. Somewhat underwhelming ending imo. God Nickel Boys was so good.

    Turner’s hug scene floored me. I broke down crying while sandwiched in the middle seat between two other men on a five hour flight, shrouded in complete darkness except for the glow of my phone screen and the warmth of that hug. It was one of the best cinematic experiences I’ve ever had and I’m ashamed to say it was through an iPhone 12 and a pair of AirPods.

    Seriously, the first half of this movie was exquisite. I cried watching dudes build a building. That never happens.

    Now, I enjoyed the second half of this movie. For sure. I just wish that the script didn't feel like it was rushed to completion as an obligation to finish the beautifully and meticulously constructed first half. I think that the movie could have done without that one specific scene…
