Knowing that this is from Flying Lotus, who did the "Ozzy's Dungeon" short from V/H/S 99 which might be the nastiest short in that entire series, I was expecting lots of goop and bodily fluids in this. Unfortunately the first half of Ash is surprisingly formulaic, with no scares other than flash jumpscares every five minutes or so. Land of the Lost 2009
Crash McCreery was the main creature designer for this which explains why the dinosaurs look so good. A blend of some CGI and a lot of practical effects for the Sleestak and Chaka makes for a good creature feature. I watched this as a kid and did not understand most of the adult humor but rewatching it it's pretty funny lol.
