what a GIFT to be able to see this movie in the theaters. when gizmo comes out at the end to save the day the entire theater erupted into cheers and the man in front of me held up the little gizmo he brought and waved it around.
plus to be able to hear the grand finale gremlin rendition of new york, new york while in a nyc theater… unbeatable !!
wow this was not good. the director did an incredible job replicating the technicolor film aesthetic of the 60s, and i appreciate the decision to use 35mm, but for what?? the movie has basically no plot, all the lines are delivered so stiff and robotic, the script is weak, the voiceover throughout the film seems super out of place, and for having basically no plot, the run time is excessively long.

i went into this movie super excited as i read a review saying the film was a combination of Cronenberg and Lynch and i was like sign me tf up!! after watching for myself i can confidently say that comparing either David to this film is doing the directors a disservice and is also somewhat insulting.
