There's a lot to like here but I hated the approach to the character. Martyr complex to the nth degree. He'll take all of the world's abuse and cruelty and still come out completely kind and ungrudging. It's so patronizing it almost strips him of humanity. This strikes a perfect wavelength between capturing him as an actual person—not a caricature—while never pulling the punches on reflecting the bottomless evil he possesses and represents.
