  i still hate Romeo and Juliet, but this movie does the (at the time) modern take so well. I also think its success came from truly leaning in to the musical theater of it all; something many movie musicals miss today.

  I didn’t choose to see this movie. It was the selected feature for AMC Screen Unseen series. I wasn’t aware of the film until I was scrolling Reddit to see the negative takes on it. I chose to watch the film entirely despite people walking out.
