really interested in weird barbie's not-so-thinly-veiled queer allegory. aside from the gay-coding (birkenstocks, calls barbie "good-lookin" and "babydoll", is played by kate mckinnon lol), you could literally replace the word "weird" with "queer" and everything would hold up. "we call her queer barbie to her face and behind her back," "ugh, she's just so queer!", and then her final exchange with the president: "sorry we called you queer" "its okay, im owning it". because her weirdness (read: queerness) doesnt mesh…
