Ouaga, the Capital of Cinema 2000
a lot of really special moments in this, but the parts that struck me the most was the inclusion of the youth/children whilst exploring discourses in/around African Cinema. found it so refreshing to hear thoughts about *who* gets to access films, the evolving nature of spaces we can engage with cinema, and the impact of politics on this.
the use of the opening and closing sequences in this will also linger on in my mind for a while, i fear. because yes, indeed, sometimes my eyes are closed and this fact is echoed and shared by everyone around me. and sometimes they are indeed (too) open.
