  Hard Boiled 1992

  Incredibly fun movie. From the opening credits which has our protagonist ripping a clarinet solo in a jazz club you know you're in for good time.

  The plot is a fairly standard rogue cop revenge melodrama but with some of the best gun and action choreography I've ever seen. It's brutal. Muthafuckas getting muthafucking plugged at point blank range constantly, bird cages exploding, motorbikes exploding, hospital beds exploding, explosions exploding. It's great.

  Mulholland Drive 2001

  David Lynch is in that class along with Werner Herzog of directors who are such memes you forget they have produced genius.
  This movie is so much fun. Two big thumbs up. It treads the line between terror and hilarity so perfectly. It's never pretentious or drawn out, you just soak it up. For all it's head-fucky-ness, we're left with enough breadcrumbs (and maybe a Google or two) to put the puzzle together which makes it a really satisfying watch, or even better, a rewatch.

  I enjoyed it! The first act especially is so atmospheric and everything in the castle is amazing. Once Orlok arrives at the city though the pacing switches to hammering through plot beats that made the end drag on a bit (we get it she's really horny).

  I did especially enjoy the good old fashioned pure evil buzz of Orlok and Willem Defoe is a delight as always.
