  Beside the camera work which was terrible for my vertigo, I have the same issue with this film as I do with George Orwell- it is just so incapable of acknowledging the potential for goodness in humanity. The hopelessness of selfishness isn’t as finite here- but it takes so much effort for its characters to start being compassionate, I mean it takes the entire film and multiple moments of trauma for them to begin to chose something other than themselves.
