This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Genuinely one of the most harrowing movies i've ever seen. like, it's up there with Possum, They Look Like People, etc. maybe what makes it so hard to handle is that nothing objectively bad happens. there's no fun sfx or murders or animatronics or anything to distract you from the bare face existential horror of this.
i keep thinking, what if they let him die? what if the movie ended with him drowning, and how would that change everything? right…
really i still like this for the novelty- such a cool combination of genres
this is the kinda movie that people with smart homes watch and think the message is "ai is gonna take over" and not "don't put everything in your home on one system that could potentially be taken over by someone with terrible intentions"
and also not "the obsession with rationality when it comes to AI is really gonna fucking doom us"
yes i did watch this twice in a week. same movie. same great taste. no i have no problems
