    This is generally pretty bad and patronizing and exists more as a monument to Eddie's continued industrial staying power despite half a dozen consecutive flops than a coherent movie. At the same time, he (or Jerry, I guess) invented Ozempic/The Substance decades ahead of time, so credit where it's due I suppose.

    DePalma basically doing French Body Double with likely inadvertent echoes of Mulholland Drive is fun because it's DePalma, but as a rule I hate all endings of this sort. At least half a star off for that. I absolutely love how DePalma uses split screens though, all the work that Kurosawa did in the entire runtime of Rashomon about fragmented identity and reality he accomplishes in any given one of those shots here. Cool to see him continuously picking up new signatures as he ages.
