Quietly heartbreaking in how it makes you feel so powerless as the viewer. Similarly to the book, I found this story likes to keep you at arms length despite the first person perspective also making you feel a part of it. Having said that, I have a lot of respect for what Ramell Ross has done here. The visuals are stunning and the POV suits the story really well. Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor absolutely steals the show every time she’s on screen.
