  Rewatch after over 10 years and it caught me off guard more than I thought. Watching in IMAX was great but I feel like there are other Studio Ghibli movies that take the cake for me. Powerful message through and through!

  The cinematography in this movie is something magical. I’ve never felt like an intruder so much in a film that felt deeply personal. All the shots were tenderly done and a lot of care was put into the storytelling between mother and son, the immigrant experience, and discovering ourselves.

This movie explores the nuances of what ifs, just like another multiverse movie except instead of exploring the other universes, you’re left craving another version of you. I wish I could teleport in time and relive all the moments with those people who had impacted me for example my first crush, my childhood friends, my first love, but now I’m just left wondering where…
