Grave of the Fireflies 1988
I don't think a movie has ever made me feel so hopelessly sad like this one did in its final minutes, so much so that I couldn't wait for it to end at one point. Not that I didn't like the movie. Sound of Metal 2019
What an incredible film. Every aspect, from the sound design to the script to the performances, works seamlessly together in perfect harmony. The way this movie manipulates your sense of hearing speaks volumes about its intended message, more powerfully than words ever could. While the sound design carries most of the emotional weight, the script and Riz Ahmed's outstanding performance shine brightly as they delve deeper into themes of depression, mental instability, toxic behavior, patience, active listening, and accepting change.

Lost Highway 1997
This was awesome. I loved how eerie and ominous the first half was, and then the second half came and threw my oh so basic expectations out the window. The editing was seamless and disorienting, and the atmosphere dreamlike, really fitting the non-linear convoluted plot. The characters were perfectly cast and performed, specifically the mystery guy, who will forever live in my head. Slowly piece by piece, trying to put everything together was really addicting, and even though everything is complex and confusing, a lot of things clicked. Also, the track selection is truly amazing, and the variety of genres complemented its scenes perfectly.
