  A gem of a movie with plenty of heart.

  what a joy to work on this film. without bias, EG is among my favorite writers and emerging voices in film. I truly respect the way he saw, heard and brought these characters to life. for years he has done this in his shorts (see: THREE ROBBERIES or DUNK), and this is just him operating on a larger scale.

  to me this film is about clusters of people who stick around…

  Mommie Dearest 1981

  I’m back in Chicago and hit up Music Box again. It’s 2 for 2. Little did I know this was a monthly showing complete with a drag show performance.

  The audience really made this fun to watch. It’s the closest thing to a white Nollywood movie. Melodrama galore. People laughed, screamed quotes in unison, and applauded upon seeing the character in a casket. 

  Thank you, Chicago. Thank you for tonight. I’ve got to see more of this director’s work. He’s  Nuts
