Anora 2024
I found it kind of annoying and the story pretty boring. I felt like this film was actually a brutal take on young people, especially young uber rich people. Not enough character development for there to be enough substance, depth or meaning…even at the end. I also felt like Anora wasn’t handled well as a character. Not something I’ll likely watch again.

Dahomey 2024
'Filmmaker Mati Diop was the first black woman to premiere a film in competition in Cannes'...wtf?! That fact sets the tone for the effect colonisation has had to this day as exemplified in this film.
This is such a creative doco and the subject matter of repatriation of royal treasures that were looted by the French is handled so deftly and cleverly. Not heavy handed at all in terms of forcing meaning. I love how the objects get to 'speak…

Agent of Happiness 2024
One of my favourite documentaries. Equally sad, heartfelt, depressing and uplifting. I loved hearing about people's lives both framed by the infamous Gross National Happiness survey and without it. The director attended the Sydney Film Festival screening I saw this in and during Q&A said that the survey takes THREE HOURS!!!
I wanna watch it again!
