  Really solid deconstruction of white savior myths and how attempting racial justice within racist institutions is impossible. The church puts all its efforts towards placating white discomfort rather than seeking real justice. There's a back-and-forth from the failures and flaccid responses from white administration and poignant conversations from black interviewees about these failures to meet the civil rights movement.   So clever and funny. Makes fun of Christianity, Marcos, and machismo all while being a great melodrama/romcom gone sour. Before k-pop was even a hint of an idea, Lino Brocka blurred the line between catholicism and stan culture. Dictators, abusive husbands, cruel dads, shitty bosses, what's the difference.
