Seminal piece of industrial noise art. This movie does not shut the fuck up in a really exciting way, and I love all the sickening, loud sounds it makes. Beautifully sculptural. Minus one star because the sexual violence was hard for me to watch but that’s just my personal taste. I did really enjoy how this movie was crafted. I love how much metal against metal there is here but also Jesus Christ this movie is gross as fuck. Very gay which earns it brownie points. Someone smarter than me could write a great essay about the line “our love can destroy the fucking world!”

The physicality of watching him work in the studio as he talks about his life and art brings to the surface emotions I’ve only experienced when I’ve been lucky enough to be in another artist’s studio as they work; a deep sense of intimacy and trust, rapt attention, material transmutation through a respectfully slow process. His work is nothing if not honest about itself- it never pretends to…
