An intriguing web of soulful jazz and dark imperialist history, this film exposes the horrifying ways the UN and western powers not only deferred, but directly destroyed the Congos chance for true independence led by Patrice Lumumba. The atomic bombs that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki could not have been made without uranium from the Congo, sent to the US by greedy Belgians. Tragic but required reading.
The dynamic editing style of this film felt like being in a jazz song going through intense motions, I love what it added to the experience!

Must watch for everybody. The first half was my 70s beach idyllic dream, and then the cruel reality of corruption and injustice comes to a head. Eunice’s courage to persevere for herself, her kids, and her husbands legacy was inspiring. I need to learn more and highly recommend this movie!!

Zendaya smashed it and I loved seeing her play an adult. This movie felt immersive and I loved the world they spun of high stress lust tension love lost love confused conniving betrayal high expectations high performing. Dope music too. Avery and I saw it in a theater filled with college girls and that really added to it. Sensual body shots making tennis look like the gd horny sport it is. Go watch it with your sexiest friends!

While it was single dimensional in driving its point of women’s objectification in society, I was impressed by the aesthetic commitment to stomach turning camera shots. I was groaning with every injection and mouth zoom🤮. It felt a bit long and the last 1/3 was so over the top I would have been fine with ending it when she kills her. It was a memorable movie that I wouldn’t subject myself to again.
    Ps. Challengers score was better
