Documentaries are excellent ways to learn about fascinating subjects you had no idea about and this one is no exception. Who knew that Orin O'Brien was the first female stand-up bass player in a major Symphonic Orchestra in the mid-60s, and that she was the daughter of two well-established movie stars from the silent era!? Who knew that she was 87 years old when her niece shot this documentary?! (She looks to be in her '60s.). A truly captivating look at a very unique life.

Nosferatu 2024
Dark, moody, and foreboding, I would have given it five stars as it's an extremely well done movie for this genre, except that the Count's accent was so thick and haltingly delivered that it made the storyline hard to follow.
Ultimately though, it's a satisfying horror movie with its share of madness and death. The gore is kept to a minimum thanks to a dark set design.

Motel Room 2023
Moody and compelling filmmaking, it's the outstanding performances by the two leads that make this short film a touching and most satisfying movie experience. Tammy Kaitz in particular is the standout as a call girl who's been around the block a few too many times, but who has gained valuable insight into the human condition and has developed compassion instead of hardness along the way. The connection she develops with her young client is truly moving. A must see.

Flow 2024
Mesmerizing animation brings to life a group of animals Fate has brought together during an environmental crisis. No dialogue throughout the film other than the familiar sounds of a cat, a lemur, a dog, a capybara, and a bird communicating as they do. Enchanting and charming, emotional and thought-provoking.
