An underrated gem, part character study and part thriller. An unusual role for Tom Cruise, and he delivers. Jamie Foxx is excellent as a cab driver who is a victim of circumstance. The Cruise-Foxx chemistry, even as two opponents brought together by fate, works very well. You will be glad you watched this one! Director Michael Mann’s distinct early 2000s visual style fits. Line you’ll remember: “Yo homie, is that my briefcase?”

Echo 2024
This mess of a series gets two stars only because of the excellent Vincent D’Onofrio. Without his portrayal of Kingpin, it’s a hard pass. Story, script and acting, other than Vincent D., border on laughable. I wanted to like it, but it is a very poor entry in the Marvel/Daredevil canon.
