A haunted house underwater is such a wonderfully silly concept. Wish this movie had people behind it who understood that

The first four episodes did nothing for me. Just bite sized versions of the first movie and it gets old fast; mainly due to the guest stars all being pretty weak. The final two episodes however are fantastic. Duplass and Brice let their more weird sensibilities let loose and it’s for the better. They strike a nightmarishly comedic tone that the sicko in me loved. So awesome to see Krisha Fairchild pop up in the final episode

Time has been kind to this movie as it is considerably more topical today than it was 20 years ago when it was released. In the original Scream, it is said that “Movies don’t create psychos, movies make psychos more creative.” which is an all time great film quote. However, I would argue that Scream 3 approaches this with more nuance as it says movies don’t make killers, the people who make movies do.

Didn’t find this as consistently gripping as Good Time but Adam Sandler’s performance (my favorite of the year) as a man slowly descending until he completely self-destructs was more than enough to keep me engaged throughout. The film never felt too long but I do feel that the story would have had the more tightly wound feel the Safdies were going for if a few minutes were shaven off with the love life subplots being the first to get cut. As is, this is still one of the best thrillers of the year and one I could see myself going back to often.
