Alot of fun. Great use of casting, costuming and props, in combination with solid music and acceptably corny digital effects to elevate a bad film with bad dialogue and bad acting, to an overall enjoyable experience of explosive violence and endearing characters in a mad max knockoff.
Recommendation:
If you like the kind of low budget feeling that Monty Python or Gentlemen Broncos has, but in a dystopian sci-fi setting, clearly inspired by Mad Max and The Terminator, with a dash of Fallout and some body horror thrown in, you should probably give this a spin.

Alex Garland is a very competent director. All of his films have been significantly different in one way or another, but have all been well-crafted. I may need to rewatch this one, as I’m not familiar enough with US politics or geography to follow the plot accurately. I would also be nice to watch it in a setting where there are no people behind me constantly exclaiming “Ohhh! He’s dead!”

I’d been pretty excited about The Brutalist from the moment I saw the trailer. There’s something about a tasteful trailer that can be immensely effective. So, having no idea what the film was about, besides that of Adrian Brody playing an architect, I prioritized seeing it the first chance I got. And the first chance I got happened to be the only 35mm print in Canada as a bonus.
