  The director should have read some Chris Ware and Daniel Clowes to see how we can portray the need for connection in the mundane life of American middle class without fetishizing sexual violence and confusing sex with connection. Helen's inner monologue just sums up this movie as it is; just an exploitationist piece of work.
  I'm not saying that the movie wants us to sympathize with the characters, it surely does the exact opposite. But needing to put this negative and unhealthy view of sex is not the tool to portray banality.
  Don't watch this crap movie, just read some Jimmy Corrigan, or Wilson.
