White of the Eye 1987
Absolutely insane movie. Very unique and subtly bizarre visual style. The sun-bleached landscape is perfect. The white exteriors/skin/blonde hair glow unsettlingly. White schizo psychonaut appropriation of indigenous culture, from textiles to cosmology (they mined more than copper). Odd cinematography reminiscent of early 90s music videos maybe? That’s the only thing that comes to mind. Clear giallo influence but fully desert gothic and 100% American story. Excellent ending.

I need more explanation: where did the cuckoo people come from, what is this resort/lab’s interest in keeping the species alive, what’s the vagina (cloaca?) goo/are the species all female, if the cuckoo lady can turn human women into cuckoo women then are they a species or is it a disease like zombies? It was still fun and nice to look at.
