Diary of a Wimpy Kid was a very relaxed movie. It fits snugly into the "diary" elements that Jeff Kinney had sought to exemplify, and the movie was able to tell a captivating story, albeit very straightforward.
We were able to see greatly into the perspective of Greg Heffley, which I am sure many younger kids would like watching.
I kind of grew out of my Wimpy Kid phase by the time I watched this film, but it was still very humorous to see. It's just not for me anymore.

I didn't really appreciate the forced relationship between Dr. Louise Banks and Ian Donnelly, and I was disappointed by the diminished role Ian's character had overall (he's a physicist who just follows a linguist everywhere), but everything else about the film was spectacular.
