A charming, "cup of tea and a biscuit" kind of film, perfect to watch by the fire on a Sunday, albeit with some slightly odd messaging.
Lesley Manville is ideal in the role - her down to earth performance is perfect for the film.
However, the message of the film seemed to be a bit antiquated: "women are the backbone of society... they may not be front and centre like the men, but things would fall apart without them". Surely…
I'm not a big musical guy, but given the hype, I thought this would be top tier for this genre.
I've got to say, it was below average at best and immediately forgettable - if this had 40% or worse on rotten tomatoes, i wouldn't have been surprised.
I appreciate it may be a victim of the hype, but why is this so highly rated? Average acting (Ariande Grande was mildly funny, but doesn't deserve the praise she is getting)…
I've never seen anything so wonderfully unique and intimate before. It's a 90 minute conversation between Jonah Hill and his therapist, Phil Stutz and it is a genuine love letter to the human condition. They discuss Phil's life in detail and also some of the therapy tools he taught Jonah which have helped him overcome his anxieties. Its the most uplifting film I've watched this year and loved learning about the tools which are truly fascinating.
Nothing better than a new Wallace and Gromit during Christmas.
The Wrong Trousers will always be up there with my favourite animations of all time - you can feel the love and heart that goes into every scene. This is a very decent effort at a follow up.
