Stephen Graham really likes the long one-take. I think it worked better in Boiling Point, and I’m not sure why it was needed here, but the first and third episodes here were the most enjoyable. I came into this movie about 15 minutes in and it hooked me immediately. Didn’t know what it was but I had a feeling it was Mike Leigh, and I was right! Man, Tim Roth is incredible in this one. Leigh has a way of getting phenomenal performances out of his actors. He can also just prop a camera up in front of a washing machine or a hallway for a long take and they’re two of the coolest scenes in the movie.
