Mostly went because I’ll see anything with Harrison Ford. I do still have a casual interest in what’s going on in the MCU, but I’m far less devoted to it as I used to be. Given all the less than stellar reviews, I wasn’t expecting anything profound. And it pretty much confirmed those expectations. But I genuinely enjoyed it, so I’m glad I went!

Ed Wood 1994
I think there were probably 10 other people in the theatre with me and it was very evident that I was the only first time viewer in the bunch. I didn’t know anything about Ed Wood going into this. What a strange and fascinating individual. Now having seen this, it seems to me that Depp brought a bit of his take on Ed Wood to his portrayal of Willy Wonka. While dark at times, this was a pretty fun viewing experience all around. Landau was great as Lugosi as well.

Anora 2024
Wow, what a rollercoaster of emotions. Sean Baker proving once again why he’s one of my favorites in the game. Incredible performance by Mikey Madison. Karren Karagulian brought some great humor. The 35mm print was stunning to watch as well. I’ve only got a couple of Baker’s movies left to watch, but so far I think this ranks 3rd.

The Holdovers 2023
I was the only one in the theater (10PM showing) and did a legitimate spit take when Giamatti tells off the headmaster.
What an incredible film from start to finish. Beautifully shot, and some incredible performances. Character development at its finest.
