  I’ve never seen a Kaurismäki movie before but if all his movies have the vibe of “Depressed Finnish Working Class Wong Kar Wai” sign me the fuck up.

  This movie has everything:

  - set in the time period “what if 2023 was 1997”
  - €8 per half hour internet
  - dog
  - karaoke
  - a depressing synth pop song performed in a bar
  - iron smelting

  Gorgeously designed, fully fleshed out world that I could've spent 3 more hours in. The animation is beautiful, giving you just enough to flesh out the world without getting lost in the details. The story itself felt a little bare bones, not that it wasn't compelling or complex, but it rushed by for me, not really letting me steep in the themes or the environment. Still, very very good.
