Todd Phillips is determined to make me feel like an idiot for defending the first movie. People hated the original out of a perceived moral obligation because the “wrong” people would like it despite it being a totally functional and solid piece of homage filmmaking. I really do believe that. But this one is everything the original was accused of being plus bad and superfluous musical numbers.

The X-Files 1998
A better movie than “I Want to Believe” but completely inseparable from the TV episodes that preceded it. That’s not a problem for me but a non-X-phile would undoubtedly find it impenetrable.
