A very uncomfortable watch, with a creeping sense of dread throughout. A study in mental breakdown and slide into paychosis, it felt like watching something intensly personal, that we shouldn’t be witnessing. I can’t say I enjoyed it in the normal sense, but I greatly admire the achievement. A film for our times. Incendiary was what came to mind walking out of the cinema. I will be thinking about it for a long time...

Uncomfortable viewing for a married couple. It lays bare the way the most loving relationship can rapidly become opposite, so some salutary life lessons, and plenty of funny and poignant moments - I loved the in-joke about LA vs NYC, the big selling point being 'the space'... Wonderful to see a raft of great actors at top of their game - Julie Hegarty, Alan Alda, Ray Liotta and a deadly but brilliant Laura Dern - all the characters had depth…
