Fun, silly and so much joy with the soundtrack. Also a good reminder of how great Cameron Diaz is with physical comedy.
Came for the Charlie’s Angels call-back, stayed for the Thames barriers.
How clever to use the mundane reality of life to inject humour in what is chosen to be the tragic centrepiece of the film. I never thought I would come back to this movie given the heaviness of the first watch but I’m so glad I did - from the music to the driving and the awkward conversations with tenants - this is a town I get and enjoy being apart of for 2 or so hours.
Another Taika Waititi triumph - as usual he takes a grim situation, adds perfectly placed humour and cleverly uncovers heartwarming relationships. Incredible performances from everyone, especially the younger actors, and beautiful cinematography all the way throughout. It also seemed a bit Wes-like at times with well thought-out symmetry and colour schemes of certain frames. A delight to watch that will also melt the heart of the most stern viewers! Missed Jimbo for this viewing but will hopefully get to rewatch with him soon!
