  Great sense of scale, surprisingly pretty for such a cgi fest, overall kicks ass. That said for a movie so concerned with the human toll of Godzilla it really doesnt do much to flesh out its characters beyond “protagonist” and “wife”, Watanabe maybe the closest to having at least a bit of a shtick.

  Not quite as overly didactic as his other English language films but this absence doesnt lend itself to subtlety but instead leaves creates a void of thematic confusion
  Pattinson great, Ruffalo and Collette hamming it up is good fun

  So so close but doesnt quite stick the landing with Kelly-Anne, the movie is too critical of her to then ask us to buy her ultimate contribution being positive

  Incredible first hour, back half drops off a little but definitely still has its moments, pretty clear the latter was written to justify the former. Works better as a procedural than as a thriller. Tough gig for Saleka to convey star power in her debut but she just about manages, give Hartnett the Oscar now
