  I can’t believe I had never heard of this movie before! I’m sort of fascinated by Inuit culture and just the Arctic in general, something about isolation maybe, and I liked that this movie really got into the difficult themes that it did. I also love that so many indigenous people were involved; I read that many of them had never acted before but I thought they did a great job. The soundtrack is amazing as well! At first glance…

  This was a tough one to rate, I could’ve maybe gone 3.5. But the art style and atmosphere combined with America’s sort of 80s soft folk rockish soundtrack make for such an imaginative world. There’s something about fantasy content from the 80s that just feels so isolated. Desolate? The worlds seem so sparse and vast, enough to let your mind wander. I really wish I would’ve seen it as a kid, as an adult I think there’s something holding it back but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
