Village of the Damned 1960
Sci-fi chiller has a hive-minded brood of telepathic, golden-haired moppets terrorizing a pastoral British village. Film lacks definitive answers as to what exactly these children are and their ultimate intentions, but engages quickly and builds dread throughout. Atmospheric black and white photography does justice to the horror elements.

Lord of the Flies 1990
This film demonstrates that people (especially children) are inherently awful and will gladly devolve into savages given the opportunity. Well duh! Meh production. Golding’s book deserves better.

The Zone of Interest 2023
In the background of the picturesque country landscape, behind the beautiful blooming garden, amid the laughter and conversation of family and friends, is present the horror of mans’ ingenuity, his indifference toward humanity, and his rationalized participation in the construct of evil. Memories fade, absolution becomes fashionable, and history repeats.
