  Pretty bad, as everyone says. But I give it an extra star for the zither score. Love a zither.

  This reminded me of I Accuse My Parents but it wasn't as funny. There were clear gaps in the dialogue where the writer couldn't come up with anything witty. Someone says, "Stop pacing, you're wearing out the carpet" and the camera dutifully tilts down to show the carpet.

  Like Sam Newfield, Christy Cabanne made lots of movies, and nobody remembers any of them.

  Three stars: For the fact that the movie wants us to sympathize with Bruno but Eva is far more sympathetic.
  Extra half star: In the last 20 minutes, Herzog (and perhaps Stroszek) finally understand America.
