seen introduced by cronenberg and howard shore
death is the natural endpoint of desire—the final orgasm. everything else is just a prelude.
at once seductive, disturbing, violent, tragic, and even quite funny…for in a world corrupted by technology’s scary possibilities, nothing is upright anymore, everything is stuck in limbo. a truly singular artistic achievement and viewing experience that i could write pages on. of all the unforgettable details in this film, unger’s fluttering eyelids probably reverberate in my mind the most.

an unfortunate symptom of the absurd thing that america has become, one that now seems to have reached the point of defying caricature. the main problem with mickey 17 though, is that i don’t even get the impression that bong knows what he’s satirising, which i think is manifest in ruffalo’s role, which strikes me as a very confused take on trump/musk. if you thought snowpiercer’s train was a broad allegory, well this film takes that broadness to a whole…
