  Even better on rewatch. This is such a beautiful and moving film. It's amazing how Mike Mills can create these characters that you immediately care about and empathise with. The blend of documentary and fictional narrative was brilliant and felt very original. Aesthetically the film is gorgeous. The cinematography is simple yet stylish, and the score is warm and heartfelt. As usual, Joaquin Phoenix is fantastic, and Gaby Hoffman’s performance is equally so. A wonderful film that I would recommend to everyone.
