This film reawakened my inner child with how magical it is. It’s like every dream i had as a kid put together in a film reflecting innocence and wonder even in a harsh world. It had no plot, but that just reminded me of how life has not plot either. It just happens, and if you spend too much time looking for a plot or trying to put life in a box, the magic of it will pass you by. So glad I made my brother watch this with me.

This movie was so visually stunning and so beautiful in score. A story about the flow of life where seemingly unrelated beings’ lives are intertwined. A beautiful story about connection and just life in general. I loved how the animals didn’t talk but still found ways to understand each other which was so symbolic. And love how beautifully nature was depicted. It was shown as a world of beauty, and even when the water was constantly getting higher, I couldn’t find myself hating the water which was such an amazing detail. I love this movie.

This movie got across exactly what it wanted to, but it was lacking in so many areas. It is an interesting depiction of French society, and i don’t want to compare it to La Haine, but i think La Haine is way better in generalizing the message and making it seem deeper than “society’s horrors”.

Ok so i know this movie was trying to show how the loss of a loved one can affect someone, but they’re just made her seem insane instead of desperate to see her mom. This is a horror movie of sorts so i know they wouldn’t dwell on the mother daughter relationship too much, but they’re could have shown her yearning for her mom better. Yeah idk it seems like whoever made this was trying to put so many things and symbols together and it turned into a blob.
