    I’m not super genre-literate with horror but… I was expecting there to be a little more? Like I was waiting for the twist that made the retelling of this story relevant to us now, but honestly the ending was rather tepid. I think there are some interesting threads in the idea of sublimated female sexuality and parallels between sex and death, but nothing ever really went anywhere.

    Cinematography was pretty enjoyable— lots of weird pans, and the way that light looks was fun to track. Overall, though, while it’s a well-crafted piece technically it left me cold and still not able to remember everyone’s name.
