District 9 2009
I didn't like District 9 as much as I expected I would. In part, I think it's because I was expecting the movie to be lighter in tone and more of a dark/black comedy. It's also a bit messy in terms of cinematography and script/plot, with some poor acting from certain actors. What it does have going for it is some interesting worldbuilding and the questions it asks the spectator.

I loved this movie! It's my first Wong Kar-wai film, and what a choice for sure. I enjoyed the cinematography and editing, as well as the music. The movie has an aesthetic that is clearly defined and presented to the viewer from the movie's first moment, which is something I've grown to appreciate the more movies I watch.
