It's a solidly good absurdist sci-fi comedy. Pattinson puts in a good performance and everything stays just on the edge of going off the rails without actually falling.
It's not as sharp or original as Parasite, but it was a good time
There are moments that work but the movie overall is drowned by its manic joke-a-second presentation.
I thought it would be bad, mostly positive reviews convinced me to give it a chance and take my daughter to it, and it turns out I should have listened to my instincts.
It's not telling a story so much as shouting five-second clips at you for an hour and a half.
This movie can be boiled down to two quotes (paraphrased):
"Every time when I sent back pictures, I thought I was sending a warning. But here we are."
"If I was shot, would you photograph it?" "What do you think?"
An extreme closeup of the horrors of war made resonant for the audience through its very, very relatable setting. Also, a dive into the psychology of journalists covering atrocities.
I was surprised at how effectively the movie manages to sidestep…
This is so far up my alley it basically is my alley. Gory but gorgeous, heavy-handed and melodramatic but in a fun way. It lost a little bit of steam as it went along but I'm very sad I don't have any more of it to watch.
"Damn it, Toby, Toby damn it!"
Oh also Mark Hamill is really compelling in his role.
