I totally see how it's so divisive, it's ultimately an homage to a genre of films that I've never seen but I thoroughly enjoyed it all the same. Every actor plays this so straight which really plays into the absurdity of it all. There's one 'jumpscare' which is absolutely not a jump scare which absolutely fucked me. Fuck that one scare and fuck that monkey.

Surprisingly good?
The affection that Michael Gracey has for his subject shines throughout the film, with great choreography and dedicated performances. However, at certain points the pacing drags the film down. It could've gotten away with being 5-10 minutes shorter.
Ultimately, if you think Robbie Williams is a twat, this probably won't change your mind but I thoroughly enjoyed it and the Rock DJ scene will be living rent free in my head for the next week or so.Translated from by
