Thoughts: i was perhaps too excited for this movie after the beekeeper. It doesn’t hit those same highs and feels a bit self-serious to start…but then the villains start showing up and the costumes and the MOON. Yeah, it’s a fun, dumb, turn your brain off watch

Scene: Bryn Mawr Film Institute after lunch at The Grog with my mom. Slightly overcooked but solid smash burger
Thoughts: complete disappointment. Go read the book, which is fantastic. I don’t care about the constraints of a movie, it is absurd to present this story as a bunch of kids having never rowed before training in six months to qualify for the Olympics. And turning it into a Hollywood romance on top of that? Goodness. Some nice shots of rowing, though, which I always appreciate
