  i feel weird about this one. i enjoyed the historical mystery and the overall composition of the film, but you can really tell this was directed by a man and that the book it’s adapted from was also written by a man. filled with male fantasises. and the worst part, while seemingly a revenge tale for assaulted and murdered women, it’s sexual violence is gratuitous and graphic? underneath the style this film is hollow and self-righteous.

  capitalising scientific immortality in the pursuit of colonising? this movie slapped so hard. the cinematography, set designs, social critique, and the phenomenal performances from literally everyone? also kind of cyber punk which is my favourite genre ever.
