  had potential to be a fun hollywood thriller but it just fell flat with a predictable and rushed storyline. love my queen elizabeth banks though and the soundtrack banged.

  i feel weird about this one. i enjoyed the historical mystery and the overall composition of the film, but you can really tell this was directed by a man and that the book it’s adapted from was also written by a man. filled with male fantasises. and the worst part, while seemingly a revenge tale for assaulted and murdered women, it’s sexual violence is gratuitous and graphic? underneath the style this film is hollow and self-righteous.
