What a beautiful short. I really don't understand the people saying it was incomprehensible - it's a fairly basic premise revealed through sparse exposition - nor those who say it was boring - you'd think letterboxd'ers would be the type that could sit still for 12 minutes and enjoy a mood piece but here we are. Through halation saturated cinematography and a mournful soft dirge of a score Blanco creates a haunting sci-fi experience.

The Vast of Night 2019
One of my top four films of the 2010's. The level of formal control and precision on a micro budget is just...wow. Only thing that didn't land for me was the framing device of a sci fi anthology series but that's a minor quibble and one I wouldn't even take a half star off of. I hope someday to meet Andrew Patterson.
